Cartofi la cuptor cu oua si branza or Baked potatoes with eggs and cheese Recipe





After so much meat, we might need something that is vegetarian. This is a wonderful dish for such a purpose. This Romanian dish is a meal in itself.




Ingredients:




  • 2.2 lb/1 kg potatoes

  • 7 oz/ 200 g cheese

  • 5 tablespoons sour cream

  • 2 tablespoons butter

  • 4 oz/ 100 g pressed cheese (goat cheese)

  • 4 eggs




Directions:




  1. Peel, cut the potatoes up to 1 cm thick slices and put them to boil.

  2. Hard boil the eggs and cut them into round pieces.

  3. In another bowl, scrape the cheese.

  4. Put a layer of boiled potatoes in a baking tin, then another layer of eggs over the one of potatoes and on the top another layer of cheese.

  5. Do it until you finish the potatoes, eggs and cheese.

  6. Equally put the sour cream, some cubes of butter and thin pieces of pressed cheese on top.

  7. Bake it for about 30 minutes until the pressed cheese is melt and it gets a nice crust.





Have it hot accompanied by white wine.
